Reports to: CEO and Managing Partner

We are looking for a Director of Development & Investments to work closely with our Executive Team

Forest Gate is a recently formed boutique real estate development and investment company founded by principals with some of the most accomplished and recognized community building experience in the industry.  Our affiliated company Treasure Hill Homes is also one of Ontario’s top performing development and homebuilding companies. 

We are actively looking for the best and brightest talent in the industry that will work closely alongside our CEO and CFO together with guidance from our Advisory Board.

Forest Gate acts on a wide array of investment opportunities including asset repositioning, complex mixed-use development projects, value-add income properties, alternative mortgages and other.  Our group has a very unique investment and operational perspective, which contributes to the unlimited potential to our organization. 

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO and Managing Partner the Director of Development and Investments will be part of a very experienced, nimble and fast-paced team working on revenue generating matters of the company.  This opportunity provides a great deal of hand-on experience to the proposed candidate.

It can be expected that time will be spent equally between development management, asset management, and pursuing new acquisitions. 

The ideal candidate will have experience managing consultant teams, liaising with industry professionals as well as a very strong entrepreneurial drive acting as the business lead responsible for identifying and delivering value on behalf of Forest Gate’s investors.  They will work alongside the CEO sourcing, leading negotiations and due diligence on new pursuits as well as ongoing asset reporting.

They will act with confidence as a business leader and be the main recognized point of contact with internal and external stakeholders on a wide variety of files.  They will be eager to learn and further their own personal development and career.

Given the wide spectrum of opportunities the ideal candidate will have demonstrated a level of diverse experience across various real estate asset classes, such as land and residential development, multi-family and industrial income properties, and other.  Priority will be given to candidates with backgrounds in land use planning and to those with experience managing consultant teams through the completion of a real estate life cycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of five years of real estate development and/or asset management experience with exposure to land development ideally within a development or planning firm
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, architecture, engineering, finance, business or related studies
  • A strong understanding of the development process and life cycle from initial acquisition through to closing
  • Experience in developing and maintaining budgets, pro formas, cash flows and financial reports
  • Strong understanding of real estate financing (typical financing structures at various stages of development)
