We are looking for a Director of Asset Management to work closely with our Executive Team

Forest Gate is a recently formed boutique real estate development and investment company founded by principals with some of the most accomplished and recognized community building experience in the industry.  Our affiliated company Treasure Hill Homes is also one of Ontario’s top performing development and homebuilding companies.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Asset Management will be an integral part of a very experienced, nimble and fast-paced team working on revenue generating matters of the company.  This opportunity provides a great deal of hand-on experience to the proposed candidate.

The Director of Asset Management will establish performance goals, annual budgets and asset management plans and ensure that the assets in their portfolio exceed such goals.  The Director of Asset Management will also be responsible for all financial analyses, portfolio reporting, creating and implementing value-add opportunities, consultant interface, creation of annual marketing, operational and capital budgets, as well as communication with other stakeholders and service providers.  The Director of Asset Management will also work closely with the larger executive team on acquisitions, investment initiatives, financings and more.

The ideal candidate will have experience in asset management across multiple classes with a particular emphasis on multifamily, retail, and industrial properties.  They will be comfortable providing direction to third party property management companies and to the leasing team.  They will demonstrate leadership in setting operational targets and reporting on them monthly.  They will have a very strong entrepreneurial drive enabling them to scrutinize qualitative and quantitative aspects of projects on behalf of Forest Gate’s investors.  The ideal candidate will have an ability to present their assessments to the Executive Team simply and clearly.  They will act with confidence as a business leader and work alongside internal and external stakeholders.  They will be eager to learn and further their own personal development and career.

Qualifications & Experience

• Five to seven years of relevant asset management experience
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, AACI or related studies
• Strong grasp of Excel, competent in maintaining and analysing large sets of data
• Experience with Argus and Yardi or similar property management software an asset
• An understanding of the real estate life cycle
• Experience in developing and maintaining budgets, pro formas, cash flows and financial reports
• Strong understanding of real estate financings
